What Does Phosphorus do to our Lake?

It feeds algae and weed growth resulting in:

  • Loss of fish and other animal populations
  • Green and cloudy lakes which discourage swimming, boating and fishing
  • Lowering of property values
  • Greater expense for drinking water filtration

What can we do?

Start reading labels before you buy products like detergents, soaps and shampoos and fertilizers.  To help, here is a list of some common phosphate free products.  There is a lot of literature on the Internet and lots of new phosphate-free products being introduced every day.  Read the labels and help us keep our lake safe.
